Baby, it’s cold outside. 🙂 It’s snowing and I am here at home, wrapped in my Range shawl and drinking tea from my Christmas mug . It would be better if it was mulled wine, but I am a bit sick and drinking alcohol when you are on medicines is not very wise, so I’ll wait a bit until I have that pleasure:)
I donated all scarves, cowls and hats I made for this year’s charity campaign and I decided to make a cowl for myself. Since it’s the holiday season, I wanted it Christmas themed. So here’s a simple cowl I came up with:
The bulky yarn and the big hook make the Christmas wreath cowl a very fast project. You can buy the pdf for 2 EUR from Ravelry or Etsy
How to crochet the Christmas wreath cowl:
What you’ll need:
1 15mm hook (US size: P/Q)
2 balls of bulky yarn – I used Aria by Stenli yarn (100gr/110m) – 100 gr of green, 50 gr of red
Abbreviations:
American terms.
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
scbl – single crochet in back loop
Pattern:
Count turning chain for a stitch.
Chain 14.
1 row Green: dc in 4th stitch , dc 11 to end of the row, chain 3 (12 st), turn
2 row Green: dc 11, ch 2 (12 st) , turn
3 row Red: hdc 11, ch 1 (12 st), turn
4 row Red: scbl 11 st , ch 3 (12 st) turn
Repeat until row 38 is done (second row of green dc)
sc in the two ends together with red.
sc all around the up and down edges with green to give the cowl a neater look.
Weave in the ends and your Christmas cowl is done.
You can make it longer, you will just need more green.
I hope you like it, and if you make it, please tag it on Instagram or Facebook as #christmaswreathcowl
