Today I’ll be talking about my most recent yarn purchases π
Frisenvang Yarn – 100% baby alpaca yarn
I recently came across Frisenvang yarn on Ravelry. Marianne, the owner, has been working with alpaca herders in Peru for a few years now. Her company is working with them under fair conditions, empowering them to live better lives. It is really important to know where your yarn comes from and if its benefits the animals and people behind it. So I liked what Marianne is doing for the people over there in Peru and decided to support her kickstarter campaign and buy some yarn. I chose 2 shades of brown and a black skein.
Here they are:
Now, I really love the middle shade. π
And here they are one by one:
The yarn is very soft. It’s 100% baby alpaca. Frisenvang offers 4 weights,Β thin, thick, extra thin, extra thick. I ordered thick, and it is basically worsted π I chose yarns that are not dyed, but they offer a variety of colors, all naturally dyed. Next time I’ll try some of the blue shades π I think I’ll make a shawl from this one, I just really love the idea to wrap myself in a warm shawl for this coming winter.
Performance Yarn
Next on my list of purchased yarns, is a box of Performance Prime sock yarn. PerformanceΒ is a Bulgarian yarn produces. I bought a few skeins (or whatever that shape is called :D) because I want to learn to knit better socks this autumn. It’s fingering weight, and it is not merino, it is just wool π and polyamide.
I am seeing them as a pair of Christmas socks in white, red and green (also very Bulgarian colours, lol). I don’t have a pattern for these Christmas socks, but it will be some simple stripes or something, just to practice.
With the blue and white, I want to make the Arctic Blizzard socks. I just loved that design when I saw it for the first time on Instagram π
And with the orange and white I want to make Pumpkin Spice mittens.
So that’s about my new yarn and my plans for the upcoming weeks of knitting. We’ll see how it goes π
